She
didn’t know if it was love at first sight. She has seen him so many times that
recalling how she met him, was difficult. He was her best friend’s
brother. He never talked to her, but her eyes always followed him moving from
one room to another with his ipod or a basketball or just in his towel too. Yes,
he moved like that even if girls are around in the house. He was carefree and
careless. Lost his things too often and would realize weeks or months
later. Her
bestie caught her gaze when he was in the room to pick a book of his.
At first she tried to convince herself that he is not worth it. She knew him better. He would not stick around. She dismissed the topic in her mind and moved on.
She knew. He didn’t.
She doesn’t remember when they had their first talk, for which she was waiting patiently. It was about the movie which he saw recently, she liked it, he didn't. Talked for as long as her bestie came into the room. She cornered herself and looked at them fighting over the food. He looked as charming as ever. It was evident in her eyes she couldn’t resist herself looking at him. Days went by she hasn’t seen him. She was talking to him in her own mind. Making up scenarios when she would talk to him, what she would talk to him. And then a chance came when she could ask for his phone number. She called him. He was asleep and woke up by the call, but he talked and talked lengths.
They were gazing stars lying down and seeing the patterns which they never thought existed. She knew she was crazy when she turned her head and looked at him. His sparkling eyes were reflecting the twinkle of the stars. His lips pouted to push the stars away. His hands were making figures in the air, his runs of imaginations.
She knew. And now he knew.
The flow of calls became so natural. A series of untiring talks. Whenever he got some time, he called her. Whenever he partied, he called her. Whenever something good happened, he called her. He told her, she was the first one on his mind. And she was in love once again.
She could imagine all the beautiful times in her mind. She hoped that this would be true. She had faith. She prayed for him. He was with her.
She told him she needed to go. He didn’t stop her. He couldn’t stop her. She wanted him to block her road which was taking her away from him. But he didn’t take a step towards her.She was gone. He realized. It was too late.
She knew. He knew.
